The Wandering Minstrels The Wandering Minstrels is an ensemble of classically trained musicians that performs throughout the region including events at the famous Biltmore Estate in Asheville, NC. They have performed an evening of opera in Charleston, SC and were chosen as the performers for the gala celebration to honor the philanthropists Hermann and Anita Blumenthal. The Blumenthal Performing Arts Center in Charlotte, NC is named in their honor. The group has also appeared in TV commercials.
We were established in Charlotte, North Carolina in 1981. The original singers were an outgrowth and extension of the Langley Studio of Voice, operated by Roselyn Langley, the artistic director of the group. The idea came into being when the Bank of America requested a group of costumed musicians strolling around the downtown area during the holiday season. From those early beginnings, the Wandering Minstrels have expanded and grown into many venues today. Past performances include the Biltmore House (See our clients page), a Winter Solstice series in March, performing for private corporation’s parties when entertainment is desired, an appearance for the Charlotte Hornets professional basketball team, weddings, art gallery openings and events, retail promotions for bridal events, TV commercials for Belk’s Department Stores and many other events. The Wandering Minstrels are truly modern day troubadours. Instead of a concert hall setting, we travel about -- like the troubadours of the 13th century, just as the name implies. We bring entertainment and joy to others wherever we perform. Many of our singers and musicians are actively pursuing musical careers throughout the US today.
